DIGITAL AND ANALOG RECORDING
Unity Gain offers a variety of audio services; including traditional analog recording, digital recording, overdubs, sweetening, editing, mixing and mastering. We have served the professional record industry for over 15 years, as well as semi pros and amateurs just looking to have a good time in the recording studio.
Analog Recording
Some clients prefer the warmth that analog tape delivers. Our Analog recorders deliver that punch that represents quality recordings we hear everyday. Our machines are aligned regularly to maximize signal to noise ratio while delivering trouble free session recordings.Digital Recording
There are those times in the studio that digital recording simply proves to be the choice because of the unique flexibility and interchange capability this format provides. With consistent hardware and software upgrades, our equipment provides the latest, most professional capabilities in the professional recording market.
Overdubbing / Sweetening
During the production stage of your project, overdubbing and sweetening allows the finishing touches to be applied to your project. Our professional microphone selection and extensive music / sound effects library provides a variety of approaches to project completion.Editing
Creating a clean project requires careful head and tail preparation which includes eliminating extraneous noise and maintaining consistency with respect to timing between programs. Our staff has thousands of hours editing using both analog (manual razor blade cuts) and digital (software program) techniques. We use industry standard software programs like Digital Performer, Pro-Tools and Bias Peak to prepare your project for mixing and mastering.Mixing
This stage of the recording process is important as decisions are made with respect to signal processor applications (reverb, delay and pitch) as well as application of signal controllers (compressors, gates and limiters). Full use of the spectral image is considered as our technician creates the widest, deepest mix in aural dimension.
Mastering
Each track is carefully evaluated on how best to maximize its own potential as well as how consistent all tracks sound on the final audio CD. This process is the polish that makes the project commercial in quality. Masters are burned to CD Rom and are prepared for duplication. We support a variety of professional formats to suit any playback system as well as internet formats (Sound Designer II, .WAV, Real Audio, Liquid Audio, WMP or MP3).
